The Top 4 Test Taking Tips For IELTS Writing
Dear IELTS Students,
Once you have set your goal to undertake the IELTS test it is important to remember a few tips that will help you achieve the results you desire. Here are some tips that will help you when you are taking the Writing test.
Always remember to...
1. READ. Read the question carefully. Ask yourself 'what is the question asking me to write about'? Highlight the main point or points which need to be answered.
2. PLAN. Once you have understood what is required in the task, plan what you are going to write. Reading and planning should take about 5 minutes in each Task 1 and 2.
3. WRITE. Now begin your writing. Writing will take about 10 minutes in Task 1 and about 25 minutes in Task 2. Start with Task 2 as it contributes more to your overall band score. REMEMBER you don't need to copy out the question, ANSWER the question only.
4. CHECK. When you have finished writing, it is important to go back and check what you have written. Check your writing for spelling mistakes, correct grammar and punctuation. When reading your writing if you are unclear about the point you are making then it is not going to be clear to the examiner. Checking should take about 5 minutes for both Task 1 and 2.
